Measuring ionization time lag of polar molecules with a calibrated attoclock

چکیده
Abstract Electrons in atoms and molecules can not respond immediately to the action of intense laser field. There is a time lag (about 100 attoseconds) between instants field maximum ionization-rate maximum. This characterizes response electronic wave function strong-field ionization event has important effects on dynamics ionized electron. For polar with large permanent dipole, direct measurement or calculation absolute difficult. Here, calibrated attoclock procedure, which related simple Coulomb-induced temporal correction electron trajectories, proposed measure relative two different events. Using this consecutive half cycles be probed high resolution.

Tunneling dynamics in multiphoton ionization and attoclock calibration.
The intermediate domain of strong-field ionization between the tunneling and multiphoton regimes is investigated using the strong-field approximation and the imaginary-time method. An intuitive model for the dynamics is developed which describes the ionization process within a nonadiabatic tunneling picture with a coordinate dependent electron energy during the under-the-barrier motion. The non...
متن کاملStrong-field molecular ionization: determination of ionization probabilities calibrated with field-free alignment.
We report an original optical method providing the probability of molecular ionization induced by femtosecond laser pulses. The approach consists of exploiting molecular alignment to extract reliable information about ionization. The cross defocusing technique implemented for this purpose reveals a sensitivity with respect to postpulse alignment, as well as to the free electron density induced ...
متن کاملInvestigating polaron transitions with polar molecules.
We determine the phase diagram of a polaron model with mixed breathing-mode and Su-Schrieffer-Heeger couplings and show that it has two sharp transitions, in contrast to pure models which exhibit one (for Su-Schrieffer-Heeger coupling) or no (for breathing-mode coupling) transition. We then show that ultracold molecules trapped in optical lattices can be used as a quantum simulator to study pre...
متن کاملProbing polar molecules with high harmonic spectroscopy.
We bring the methodology of orienting polar molecules together with the phase sensitivity of high harmonic spectroscopy to experimentally compare the phase difference of attosecond bursts of radiation emitted upon electron recollision from different ends of a polar molecule. This phase difference has an impact on harmonics from aligned polar molecules, suppressing emission from the molecules pa...
متن کاملThree-body interactions with cold polar molecules
Fundamental interactions between particles, such as the Coulomb law, involve pairs of particles, and our understanding of the plethora of phenomena in condensed-matter physics rests on models involving effective two-body interactions. On the other hand, exotic quantum phases, such as topological phases or spin liquids, are often identified as ground states of hamiltonians with threeor more-body...
